Professional & Friendly Local Vet Practice Serving South East Adelaide

40 Diagonal Rd, Glengowrie, 5044 Adelaide, SAThe Somerton Park Veterinary Clinic was established by husband and wife team, Mark Hill and Jo Kennedy, in 1990. It represented a smaller personalised practice which has grown from one vet and one nurse to two vets and six nurses, reflecting how busy it has become over the years.
The business had grown to the extent that we needed to move to larger premises in 2010 but we have still been able to maintain the personalised practice that our clients have come to expect.
Our services
The clinic has embraced the changes in medical and surgical techniques over the years and offers our clients a holistic repertoire of treatment options including orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, laser surgical procedures, K-Laser treatments, ultrasound, digital radiography, dental radiography, rigid and flexible endoscopy, chemotherapy and electroporation, cryosurgery, dentistry, and in-house laboratory facilities.
-
Electrochemotherapy
Electroporation involves the injection of a chemotherapeutic agent into a tumour followed by application of an electrical impulse using a special probe to maximise uptake and retention by the cancer cells and thereby minimise exposure to the patient. -
K-Laser therapy
Somerton Park Veterinary Clinic provides therapeutic laser therapy using a Class 4 multi-phase laser with 4 wavelength outputs and adjustable delivery modes. Therapeutic lasers use light waves to enhance cellular metabolism and promote cellular growth, proliferation and repair. -
Dentistry
Our clinic is fully equipped to provide a range of dentistry services from routine dental hygiene procedures (scale and polish) under anaesthesia, to dental radiology and tooth extraction. -
Soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery
We perform a range of surgical procedures on site; from soft tissue surgeries such as desexings, excisional biopsies and laparotomies, through to orthopaedic surgeries such as tibio-fabellar sutures, zlig-implants and amputations. -
Diagnostic Services
A full range of in clinic diagnostic services including digital radiology, dental radiology, ultrasound, rigid and flexible endoscopy, ECG, blood testing (haematology and biochemistry), faecal and urine testing. -
VetScalpel CO2 laser
Somerton Park Veterinary Clinic owns one of the few 45W VetScalpel Veterinary CO2 Lasers in Australia. Laser ablation allows for precise removal of cells while reducing blood loss and has applications across a wide range of surgical procedures.
The team
Our dedicated team of veterinarians and nurses are committed to providing quality care to our patients and recognise the importance of continuing education in staying up to date with changes in treatment options and techniques. All our staff participate in ongoing professional development such as inhouse training sessions, workshops, and conferences to further their skills.

I graduated from Melbourne University in 1986. Mainly working as a small animal practitioner, once the dinosaurs all died off and working simultaneously at the Adelaide Zoo, RSPCA and Flinders University.

Hello! My name is Dr. Sonia Treagus. I graduated Veterinary Medicine from the University of Adelaide in 2021. Somerton Park Vet was my family Vet growing up and I have many fond memories of the caring, friendly staff here. Now I am excited to be on the other side of the fence and provide that same care to our patients!
